04How to spend the days

05Getting there and getting around

Routings into Galápagos Islands vary by season and by departure city, and the cheapest itinerary is rarely the one we recommend. We look at connection risk, arrival time, and how the first day of the trip actually feels after the flight. Arriving at eleven at night into a destination you have never seen is a poor first impression, and it is usually avoidable.

On the ground in Galápagos Islands we default to private transfers with drivers we know by name. Self-drive works well in some parts of Ecuador and badly in others; rail is excellent in a few and unreliable in others.
